Hannah Mazurek is a soprano, multi-instrumentalist, actor, sound designer, and composer based in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Hannah has shared their love of sound in all its forms across Canada and they have led and participated in diverse artistic projects which push the boundaries of genre, era, and discipline.
Hannah began their music studies at Victoria School for the Performing Arts in Edmonton where they graduated with a Foundation for the Arts scholarship for continuing education in classical music. In 2013 Hannah toured to South Africa with the Korora Choir Association, performing in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Pretoria, as well as several local performances with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. In 2019 Hannah graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, studying classical voice under the tutelage of Mark Daboll, orchestral conducting under Ivars Taurins, and contemporary music theory. Notable performances include Cherubini’s requiem in c minor with the University of Toronto Women’s Chamber Choir (Lincoln Centre, New York), and the new oratorio Miziwe... everywhere by Odawa composer Barbara Assiginaak (Koerner Hall, Toronto).
Hannah is the current co-Artistic Director of the Problematic Orchestra with Daniel Janke. You can also find them in the roles of actor and sound designer, having most recently worked on I Think I’m Fallin’: The Songs of Joni Mitchell (Belfry Theatre, 2023) and WYRD: A Musical Unfairytale (Larrikin Entertainment, 2023) as well as the Whitehorse Guild Hall’s productions of Young Frankenstein (2022), The Wolves (2023), Mustard (2024), and Hurricane Diane (2024). Hannah’s solo sound design work has also appeared at (s)hiver Arts Festival in Dawson City (2023). They currently play in Whitehorse-based bands Electric Lemonade and Fleabane.
They are grateful to have found a community of artists and collaborators across the country and hope to participate in Canada’s rich music and arts culture for years to come.
